A true prototype. The first and only CNC milled Robertson prototype made. 1 of 1.
The body is CNC milled from 303 stainless steel. The face insert is laser milled titanium with a stunning colored Mondrian-inspired pattern. 3 degrees of loft, 70 degree lie, 353g, 1 shaft of offset, 4:30 toe hang.
The CNC Milled Robertson project had 2 goals: create a more scalable product at a lower price point than our 3D Printed putters, and bring some of the design and production techniques we developed to make 3D printed putters a reality to a CNC milled design. Hence the face insert (which is not typically found on a CNC milled putter, and if it is it's typically just decorative), and the multi-material design under the hood. This allows us to strategically place super heavy tungsten within the body of the putter to place the center of mass right on the center line while significantly boosting the MOI. This putter has an MOI north of 4900 g-cm^2, roughly 20% higher than a typical Anser style putter and competitive with mallets like the TM Spider. Using a face insert also allows us to employ all of the laser milling and color laser annealing techniques we've developed to create unique and innovative face designs for 3d printed putters.
Feel-wise these putters are very similar to comparable milled steel blade putters. They yield a satisfying click when you hit the sweet spot and a decent range of feedback to discern the quality of strike. But due to their enhanced MOI, even off-center strikes yield results closer to the hole than typical, lower MOI putters of similar shapes.
The dimensions on this prototype are just slightly different than the production version (the bumper step on this prototype is 0.02" deeper), and the geometry of the cutouts on the front and back of the neck is a bit sharper and more angular.
Comes with a KBS CT Tour 120 chrome shaft (shaft upgrades available). Will be cut to your choice of length and comes with your choice of a black leather stitchback grip or a Lamkin deep etched cord grip.
